MISSION STATEMENT
St. James' Church aims to serve and share Jesus Christ.
MINISTRIES
Christian Education, Communication, Fellowship, Outreach, Pastoral Care,
Property & Resources Management, Worship, Youth.
ROLE OF MINISTRY COUNCIL
• Give support, ideas and problem solving as requested by each ministry
• Approve the goals that serve the Parish’s Mission Statement
• Approve the budget to be presented at Annual Vestry Meeting
• Keep minutes of its meetings and distribute them to each Ministry’s representative
• Review and monitor progress against plans to ensure the effective
operation of the Parish
RESPONSIBILITIES OF MINISTRY REPRESENTATIVES
• Communicate to the Ministry Council and to all sections of their ministry
pertinent information. This is a two-way communication so that all are informed
• Advocate for their ministry’s activities in decisions made at the Ministry Council
and to advocate for Ministry Council’s decisions to their individual ministry
• Co-ordinate reporting of activities and related funding/budget information.
Together with the other representatives of the Ministry Council, facilitate the
effective operation of the Parish
MEMBERSHIP OF COUNCIL
• 1 appointed member from each Ministry (8) or their alternate
• Senior Warden (chair)
• Incumbent or alternate
• Secretary appointed – non voting
• Treasurer appointed - non voting
MEETINGS
• One per month starting at 7 pm for 2 hours only
• Other meetings are called by the chair as needed giving one week notice.
QUORUM
A quorum for a meeting shall be a majority of the voting members
VOTING
Voting shall be by a show of hands unless the chairperson directs otherwise
Each ministry present shall be entitled to one vote
TERMS OF MEMBERSHIP
Each ministry will appoint a member and alternate for 1 year at annual vestry meeting
If a vacancy occurs within that year another member would be appointed.
Appointed member may be the representative for a maximum of 5 years.
AGENDA
Items to be submitted to the chair one week in advance of meeting
Agenda to be circulated 1 day prior to meeting.
MINUTES
Minutes to be circulated by e-mail if available, by 1 week after meeting.
A copy posted on the bulletin board and others left in the church vestibule.
CHURCH WARDENS and INCUMBENT
Have the final decision-making authority as defined by canon
CHURCH MEMBERS
Take ideas, suggestions and concerns(opportunities) to the appropriate ministry
