FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY

There are many opportunities for the parish family to spend time together in social settings,

This may involve worship, learning and service.

Fellowship Ministry Goals:

To continually to develop a Fellowship Program that will help the congregation of St. James' to feel they really belong to a Church Family and to welcome all newcomers

Anglican Church Women

If you enjoy getting involved and meeting new people, this is for you.  The Executive meet the first Tuesday of each month. The Afternoon Fellowship is held in the Parlour at 2pm on the third Tuesday of each month, to discuss and plan events during a social tea with a speaker or with music. You will enjoy getting together for tea and a chat.

The ACW organizes some amazing events which are beloved in the Orillia community.  One example is the Avenue of Boutiques, typically held in November, just as Christmas preparations are getting underway.

Special interest sub-groups include among others, the Knitters and Crafters groups.

Men are often conscripted to help out at big events, so ACW becomes Anglican Church Workers.

Coffee Hosts

Volunteers make the coffee for our morning fellowship after 10:30 worship services.  It involves setting up, brewing the coffee and clearing away. It does not take too long and you get to do it once every three months.

It is a very rewarding job with fun and fellowship. New members of the team are instructed on how to operate the coffee machine, and where to find the various supplies. If you are interested in this ministry contact the church office.

Men’s Breakfast

In the months that have a fifth Sunday, the men gather for a hearty home-cooked breakfast.  It is a meet and greet social time and a great way to start your day.  You know when it's Men's Breakfast Sunday from the laughter and spirited conversation coming from the kitchen. If you are interested in this ministry contact the church office.

Good and great God!  How should I fear

To come to Thee, if Christ not there!

Could I but think He would not be

Present, to plead my cause for me;

To hell I'd rather run,

Than I would see Thy face, and He not by.

Sharing Group

The Sharing Bible Study Group has flourished at St. James' from 1976 to the present day.

The study and social group meet over tea and cookies in the church parlour each Wednesday

after the mid-week communion service. This group has been found to be a blessing to everyone

who attends.

They study and learn God's word through the Bible and with donations from the members support

outreach programs. At present, they send two gifts a year to Rev. Agnes Mukandoli and the

Mothers' Union in Rwanda, and support the South American Missionary Society in Canada.

They also support FaithWorks and any urgent money needs in the Church.

Their doors are always open to new members and welcome both men and women. If this ministry interests you, please contact the church office.

Special Event, Dinners

At the Church we have a lot of functions which include food.  Many dinners are prepared. When the committee gets together they work hard but it is very rewarding work. They have a lot of fun and fellowship and of course you get to sample what you cook.  Many hands make light work so if anyone is interested in joining this group they would be very happy to hear from you.

This is a very important ministry at St. James'.  Even if you have no experience at cooking for larger groups, you will be coached in a helpful and positive way.  It's fun to work in the kitchen at St. James'.
